Starting it backwards, typical me. Most people would begin by saying a few words about their new blog, kind of set the scene. I decided to take care of that later. First, I want to talk about the site tagline and a title of my first blog post here. This line from a Blackmore’s Night song turned out catchy. So catchy it has sicked around for a while now. I clearly remember hearing it for the first time maybe 17 years ago. I like the melody, it has the power of bringing one back to renaissance times, typical to Blackmore’s Night music . But it was the line that grabbed me – and the road goes on [seeming ever longer]. It has always been a strong source of hope, positive vibes, and a casual smile. A simple sentence yet capturing so much. It leaves me thinking about how there’s so much more than the daily stuff that usually preoccupies our minds. The metaphoric road is out there, and it keeps going, leading us through life. That’s why I picked this line for a tagline. I think it just happened naturally, and I do hope it brings luck in this new endeavor.
And the road goes on … also reminds me of a special moment. Driving towards New York city on a scenic road that was painted in mesmerizing New England Fall foliage colors. Looking forwards to seeing the city that never sleeps for the first time. And the October sun setting down at the horizon, covering the world around with its magical tint of orange. I believe John Burk’s photograph of a beautiful New England fall sunset depicts this memory so vividly, that I took the liberty of sharing it here.
Now to the point. I’ve been thinking about blogging for some time now. Just starting something, a quick kick-off, and then seeing where it gets. Man can talk about so many things – we do it every day. Putting it down on paper does require a little extra discipline, surely, but then there’s the exciting feeling of sharing a moment, an idea, a few pictures of your weekend hike. Not that I won’t be doing any of that, but somehow I get the feeling this blog is going to be about life. Not as in fashion lifestyles, healthy life, successful people’s life, or other topics suggesting me preaching something to you. I’m sure there’s many great sources of that out there. I think I’ll just stick to my reflections on life. The way I see and perceive it, the thoughts that race in my mind. Of course, if you stick around long enough you’ll surely get your daily dose of other topics dear to my heart, such as DIY projects, geeky stuff, bar reviews, and road trip journals, to name a few. But I still have that inner hunch it’s going to turn up about life at the end.
